Both Jeru the Damaja and The Beatnuts need little introduction. Jeru has been block rocking out of Brooklyn when he and Hip Hop were just a teen. Creating some of hip hop’s most powerful and thoughtful songs along side DJ Premier and Guru. Jeru completely elevated the sound with debut album in 1994 The Sun Rises in the East and he continues to keep hip hop grounded in truth and respect for its ancestral roots.
The Beatnuts have been rocking parties out of Queens and beyond since Afrika Bambaataa introduced them to Native Tongues members including De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest and the Jungle Brothers. The Beatnuts sound has spanned nearly the entire heavy hitters list of 1990′s hip hop; Common to Fat Joe, Naughty by Nature to MC Lyte and they continue to innovate the culture to this day.
